The Life of Stephen Hawking Stephen Hawking. A bright student, a brilliant physicist, a brave man. The life of Hawking is full of ups and downs, peaks and valleys, enlightened intelligence, and devastating disabilities. (I’m still working on this bit) Stephen Hawking was born on January 8, 1942 in Oxford, England. His parents - Frank and Isobel Hawking- resided in London, though because World War II was in full swing at this point, they decided along with many others, that it would be safer to raise a family in Oxford. Both of his parents were well educated, had a hunger for travel, and were involved in political activism. They passed their enthusiasm and passion for these things onto their children.Witherbee, Amy.
